When I read this the first time...I didn't realize it was you. I read it again...and my heart went "thump". I know you have shared some of your life story with me...but PHEW...I never knew. Knowing you today seems like you were talking about a stranger to me. I'm glad you came back and into my life. What you went through made you who you are today...the person I know and admire. You are a WONDERFUL mom and friend.

God Bless!

I was that waitress.

And my parents' house, well, they paid their bills . . . but there were horrors in the tidy corners just the same. Think Annette Bening in "American Beauty" without the black comedy. Just . .. black.

So when I got to the beautiful paragraph about the "trip a lot into a cram" . . . something grabbed me and didn't let go . . . and I realized I was really hoping that somewhere, something good would happen.

And it did. Thank God.

Because anyone that travels that far in such a short amount of time deserves to rest somewhere warm, and safe, and dry. Where there are nice people, good smells . . . and cake.
